Our social purpose

Community focus
At TELUS International, we understand the relationship between the success of our company and the well-being of the communities where we live, work and serve.
“We give where we live” is an essential part of our caring culture.
We know that our team members want to be part of something bigger. And when given the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their own communities, our proud team members reward us with their ongoing commitment and loyalty.
TELUS Days of Giving around the globe
In addition to our weekly (even daily) charitable activities, once a year we focus our efforts on our TELUS Days of Giving. Thousands of our team members put aside their daily activities to join a common cause, whether it’s building entire schools in Central America, refurbishing centers for young children in Eastern Europe or constructing entire villages for the homeless in the Philippines. In 2017, TELUS Days of Giving events were held in 11 international locations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Central America, Eastern Europe and the Philippines.
We’re proud of the scale of the impact that we’ve created together with our partners around the world. Check out the full Infographic here, or the videos below as we celebrate 10 years of giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve.
It’s in our nature to care
Beyond single-day activities, we are dedicated to creating ongoing, lasting partnerships with both our CSR partners and clients. Among the many stories to share, here are a few more that make us especially proud:

A shared sense of social purpose with TXU Energy
For our North American clients, the sheer scale of our CSR activities are awe-inspiring to the point where clients are now asking to take part in our events. One particular client, TXU Energy, was so inspired that they hosted their own Days of Giving event in Central America. Twenty-six TXU Energy team members from Dallas, Texas joined 150 TELUS team members in Guatemala to build an entire classroom from the ground up.

1.800 hotline
Running contact centers is what we do, so why not put those skills to good use? With this in mind, specially trained TELUS International agents in Guatemala volunteer their time running anti-drug and HIV information hotlines for people in crisis.

Empowering the poor
During our long-time partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK) in the Philippines, we have created two new villages and built 143 homes for some of the nation’s poorest families. On a regular basis, our team members continue to volunteer at the villages teaching life skills, tutoring children and empowering previously homeless people to take control of their lives.

HOPE (Helping Our People through Education)
HOPE is an 8 to 10-month long life-changing program for students in Central America that teaches them English and job skills while they receive an allowance from TELUS International. At the end of the program, students are given fulfilling roles in the company, enabling them to support themselves and their families. Learn more by watching the video.

Hosting after school programs
For years, in El Salvador, TELUS volunteers have been actively involved in improving the education of young children. The “GIVE” program runs in partnership with Glasswing International in two public schools sponsored by TELUS. Once per week, TELUS volunteers lead after school programs, sharing their skills in arts, sports and academics.

Diversity and inclusiveness – hearing impaired
We believe the diversity of our team is a significant competitive advantage and we value the contribution of each and every team member. As just one example, take a look at our Inclusion Program for the Hearing Impaired at TELUS International in Guatemala and see the impact on people like Gaby, Blas, Michelle, Jeyner, Gabriela, Maynor and many more. TELUS Community Boards
We believe in taking CSR further. Created in 2005 by our parent company, TELUS, 13 Canadian community boards and 5 International boards have led the Company’s support of grassroots charities and have contributed almost US$50 million in support of 5,455 local charitable projects, enriching the lives of more than 2 million children and youth, annually. TELUS was honored to be named the most outstanding philanthropic corporation globally for 2010 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, becoming the first Canadian company to receive this prestigious international recognition.
TELUS International’s five Community Boards are making a positive impact in the Philippines, Guatemala, El Salvador, Bulgaria and Romania, each with a US$100,000 annual donation budget.
